Programs and Services
Assessment and Evaluation
At First Step Recovery, a licensed addiction counselor completes
a thorough assessment. This assessment takes about two hours
and may include a brief interview with a
family member, friend, or significant other. Diagnosis and
recommendations are based on the information gathered.
Partial Hospital Program
This program is designed for the patient who requires a more intensive,
structured treatment experience, but does not require 24-hour medically supervised inpatient care.
Patients attend programming 4-5 days per week. A patient at this level of care may continue to work
and return home in the evening. The schedule includes group and individual therapy, family therapy,
and educational lectures and videos.
Intensive Outpatient Program
Patients participate in the Intensive, Outpatient Program (IOP) on Monday, Wednesday,
and Thursday evenings from 5:30 pm until 9:30 pm. This program is designed for patients
who have alcohol or other drug problems that significantly affected their lives.
Programming includes group and individual therapy, family therapy, and educational lectures and videos.
Continuing Care / Relapse Prevention
These programs are for clients who
have completed a primary chemical dependency treatment program here or with
any other treatment provider. Clients attend a two-hour group session
once a week to deal with recovery issues and behavior
changes necessary for a continued healthy sobriety.
Family Program
We encourage family members to participate in the treatment process
with the client. Family members attend group sessions
to learn more about chemical dependency and its impact
on the family. There are also opportunities for family members to participate
in the client's group.
Individual Therapy
This is intended for persons in a pre-contemplative
stage of change, or when further ongoing assessment is needed. It may
also be used for clients experiencing relapse after stabilization.
Typical involvement is one individual visit weekly.
Consultation
First Step Recovery has a contract with MeritCare Health System to
provide hospital consultation services. Our counselors provide daily
services to hospital patients referred by their physicians for chemical
dependency consultation/evaluation.
First Step Recovery also has contracts with various employee assistance
programs and the juvenile justice system to provide assessment and
treatment of individuals with chemical dependency problems.
Training Opportunities
At First Step Recovery, we are dedicated to educating the public and
to furthering the education and training of professionals. Our staff
members are available for consultation with medical personnel and
other community agencies. First Step Recovery is available
as a training site for professionals wishing to gain further experience
and training in dealing with chemical dependency.
Cost of Services
As with any health care, your actual charges for treatment will depend
on the services you receive. First Step Recovery, PLLP is a Blue
Cross/Blue Shield Preferred Provider. We also work with many other types of health insurance.
